Here are some of the top reasons that may reduce the need for an air conditioner repair.
Dirty filter – one of the most common reasons why an air conditioner unit stops cooling or “freezes” is due to a dirty air conditioner filter. They should be checked regularly (see Preventative Maintenance). If they aren’t they can cause your system to run a lot more and cause overheating issues and not cool down your room as well as it should.
Thermostat Malfunction – The thermostat is what tells your air conditioner what temperature your room is, and how cool/hot the air coming in and out of the system is. If it malfunctions, then the air conditioner will keep cooling or heating rather than maintaining the desired temperature.
Coil Issues – there are two coils in air conditioning units, the evaporator coil and the condenser coils. The evaporator coil is what cools the air and absorbs the heat and humidity from inside the room. If it is dirty or blocked it is then less efficient and stops the room from cooling/heating. Condenser Coils are located outside your home or office and can become dirty from outside elements. This can cause them to work less effectively making the air conditioner unit work harder than it should. Both of these should be cleaned regularly (see Preventative Maintenance)
Refrigerant (gas) leaks – If the air conditioner is leaking gas, then it will not work as effectively as it should. When the gas leaks out of the system, indoor temperatures and humidity will rise and your system will work harder causing it to consume more energy. If this is the case, only a qualified technician can complete this repair so call our team on 0417 835 665 today.
Clogged Pipes and Drainage – Similar to the Air filters, drainage lines can get clogged with dirt, dust, animal fur and lint from the home. This will mean that the drain pan will fill up with water which could cause damage to the air conditioner system and anything around it! If these are not cleaned regularly (see Preventative Maintenance) then there is a greater likelihood that these pipes can be blocked.
Damaged Capacitor/Circuit Board/Components – Like any electrical system, faults can occur. If the capacitor has stopped working it might mean that the motor won’t start properly. Power surges can cause issues to circuit boards and things can just go wrong. Grey Shaw Air Conditioning runs diagnostics on all of these issues and have the trained staff to carry out the repairs as required.
While we at Grey Shaw Air Conditioning would prefer to repair air conditioners, sometimes it just does not make economic sense to repair a unit. In this case we will be upfront about your options and recommend the best course of action. Call our team on 0417 835 665 today to schedule an repair service..
